A Legacy of Faith: The Cornerstone Story

In September 2005, a faithful few gathered in a humble high school cafeteria, united by their love for Christ and desire to worship together. Though small in number, they were mighty in spirit – sharing communion, lifting prayers, and praising God. What began as "The Gathering" would soon blossom into Cornerstone Christian Church.

Our Journey of Faith: Key Milestones

September 2005

• First worship service held in a high school cafeteria
• Moved to Garden Terrace Room at DoubleTree Hotel
• September 18: Launched Children's Sunday School
• September 25: Guest speaker Ron Key shares; first Steering and Missions Committees formed

October 2005

• October 9: "The Gathering" becomes Cornerstone Christian Church
• October 30: Ron Key accepted the call to become our first pastor

November 2005

• November 6: Moved to Dallas Christian College
• Celebrated first church potluck
• November 18: Honored veterans with flag retirement ceremony

December 2005 - September 2006

• Special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services
• January: Bible studies and small groups flourish
• January 26: Interim by-laws established
• April 16: First Easter celebration
• June: Launch of Prison Ministry in Palestine, Texas
• July: First mission trip to Guatemala with 23 members
• September: Adopted official Statement of Faith and Governance
• Fall: Installation of first Elders, Deacons, Council, and church officers

A Testament to God's Faithfulness

From those first gatherings in a cafeteria to becoming a vibrant church family, every step of our journey bears witness to God's faithful guidance. Through the dedication of our members and the Holy Spirit's leading, that small beginning has grown into a thriving community of believers. Today, with our leadership in place and our mission clear, we continue to share Christ's love and bring the Gospel to all.

As we look back on these foundational moments, we're reminded that God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people who step out in faith. Our story continues to unfold as we serve our community, support missions worldwide, and grow together in Christ.

Since 2006

Cornerstone continued to operate on the campus of Dallas Christian College until August of 2023 when we then moved to a temporary site at Valwood Park Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Farmers Branch while we were actively seeking our own site in the area. By God’s grace we were able to locate and purchase our first building in 2023 and after extensive renovations to our building we moved in and began worship in November, 2023 at 14008 Distribution Way, Farmers Branch (Dallas), Texas 75234.
