Preschool & Children’s Ministry

We place a major emphasis on our children! While the nursery is available during Sunday School and all Sunday morning events, our goal for elementary children, from Preschool-5th grade, is to offer appropriate Sunday School classes with curriculum and a nurturing environment as they learn about God so that they may be able to receive Jesus Christ as their savior. The world is a dark place and we work hard to give them the best biblical foundation and interesting lessons enriched with multimedia material.

After Sunday School class, they reconnect with their families to worship together in the regular Sunday service where they can enjoy the opportunity to worship and partake in offering and communion as a family.
After the offering meditation and sharing Communion in the service, children 5th grade and down are dismissed from the Sanctuary to learn a lesson suitable for their age. Children’s classes are all located past the Coffee Bar, by the restrooms.

Summer offers a Vacation Bible School experience that is a fun and fulfilling for our children and families

Parents are asked to pick up their children from their classrooms after the service is over.

Youth Ministry

At Cornerstone Christian Church, our post-elementary students are learning about and developing deepening relationships with their Creator and Savior through multigenerational Sunday School classes as teens are encouraged to choose from one of the Sunday School Bible study lessons, just as their parents and elders do. They then attend and experience the church service worship and sermons.

We have Youth Sunday which encourages and incorporates our young people in Sunday services where they are learning how to share their faith through leadership and witness. Other events and activities are held throughout the year that involve the youth and their abilities, including Vacation Bible School and special seminars for learning life-navigating opportunities.

Men’s Ministry

Our purpose in Men’s Ministry is to strengthen men in their walk with Jesus Christ. We have a men’s Bible Study Group called Band of Brothers, which meets every Tuesday morning in a 6:30 am Zoom meeting. This is a group of men who encourage one another through prayer and studying God’s Word together.

The Men’s Bible Study Fellowship Breakfast generally meets on the third Saturday of every month from 8:30 to 10:30 in the Fellowship Hall, where we fellowship over breakfast and usually view and discuss a short topical video (around 20 minutes). We also have periodic Men’s Retreats in which men can get away from their busy schedules and learn and apply God’s word in their lives.

Women’s Ministry

Our purpose in Women’s Ministry is to serve our families, church and community by equipping and encouraging women to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. Women’s Bible Study offers the opportunity to learn more about God’s word in a friendly home setting, with both evening and morning groups meeting each week during the fall and spring. Our In-Reach ministry seeks opportunities to meet the physical and emotional needs of women in the church, including meals, visiting homes and hospitals, and making phone calls. Outreach is also an important part of Women’s Ministry. We identify and encourage participation in community needs and projects, functioning as the liaison to the surrounding community. We also hold special events to promote a warm and creative environment to encourage fellowship and spiritual growth through monthly events, retreats, celebrations, seminars, etc. All of our activities are bathed in prayer for our fellow women as well as for our church leaders and other members. We would love to have you join us!

Missions

The many Missions projects that Cornerstone supports locally, domestically and internationally often provide involvement and volunteer opportunities for congregation members and community partners, spanning a diverse range of humanitarian and spiritual endeavors that serve communities in need. Locally, Cornerstone partners with area food banks, homeless shelters, and family support services, while domestically, the organization extends its reach through disaster relief teams, inner-city outreach programs, and rural community development initiatives across the nation. Internationally, Cornerstone’s global mission work encompasses partnerships with organizations in developing nations to provide clean water access, healthcare services, and educational resources, including sponsoring orphanages and schools in multiple countries. Volunteers can engage at various commitment levels, from one-time service events to regular weekly programs or extended mission trips, with Cornerstone providing comprehensive training and preparation to ensure participants are equipped with the necessary skills and cultural understanding to serve effectively in these diverse contexts, allowing congregation members to contribute meaningfully to both immediate humanitarian relief and long-term community development efforts around the world.

Audio Visual/broadcast

The importance of creating, broadcasting and editing beautiful sound for our services and events is meaningful. If you have or would like to know more about our sound or broadcast ministries, we would love to hear from you.

Prison Ministry

Scripture tells us to remember those in prison, and we at Cornerstone have taken that to heart. We participate in the Coalition of Churches in Prison Ministry, which ministers to prisoners in the East Texas area. We periodically visit prisons where we share the gospel and do a worship service with our choir and band. Our main project throughout the year is the “Gift of Light” Bags that are given to thousands of prisoners at Christmas. All are invited to help decorate these bags throughout the year that are then filled with the gift of fruit, candy, toiletries, and a tract for each prisoner. There are many opportunities for you to serve-just let us tell you about them!

Counseling Ministry

Are You Hurting? Do you have issues from your past that interfering with your faith? Do you have hurts from the past that keep you from participating in the body of believers? Are you considering marriage and want to work to divorce-proof it beforehand? Do you have stress, anxiety or grief that has a stronghold on your life? Maybe we can help.

Our team of ministers have received professional training in pastoral counseling, and they are committed to blessing those who are hurting and in need. If you are a lady in need of support from another woman of the faith, we can coordinate that as well. In rare or complex situations, we can coordinate support from trained Behavioral Health Professionals. We are fully confident that any definitive answer to the problems that plague us all will entail the power of the gospel. If we can serve you in this way, we would be glad to do so.

Welcoming Ministry

Being new to a church can feel overwhelming. A lot of times finding a restroom, making decisions for how you want your kids to experience the church with you, where classes are and how service is conducted can be a stress that we at Cornerstone feel is unnecessary for a visitor. Many churches have “Greeting Ministries”, but we have decided to instead organize a “Welcoming Ministry”. Our Deacons and volunteers will meet you on your way in and give you a short tour and ensure that your family has a full awareness of what happens, where it happens, and when it happens. If you’d like to be present for both Sunday School and service, we encourage you to show up at 9:15AM. If you only have availability for the Worship Service, we will gladly greet you anytime you come through the door, but 10:15AM will give you ample time to receive the tour and be at your seat for the 10:30AM service. We hope to see you soon.

Choir / Band / Music Production

The transformative impact of music in worship is powerful, with Cornerstone’s dynamic music department offering comprehensive musical programming and inspirational praise worship experiences throughout the year, as well as elaborate seasonal worship cantatas that celebrate the profound significance of Easter and Christmas through emotionally resonant performances. The department’s dedicated ensemble of vocalists, instrumentalists, and production team members works tirelessly to create transcendent worship experiences that elevate congregational participation and deepen spiritual connection, blending traditional hymns with contemporary compositions to honor diverse musical preferences while maintaining theological integrity. From the soaring melodies of the adult choir to the enthusiastic participation of the children’s worship team, from the technical expertise of the sound engineers to the creative vision of the worship leaders, each component plays a vital role in Cornerstone’s musical ministry, which serves not only as a powerful vehicle for communal worship but also as a welcoming community for those with musical gifts. Cornerstone warmly invites individuals of all skill levels who possess talents in singing, playing instruments, or audio-visual production to join this vibrant ministry, offering opportunities for both seasoned performers and newcomers to contribute their unique abilities in a supportive environment committed to excellence in worship and artistic expression that glorifies God and inspires the congregation.
